We arrived in Manila on 1/1/09. After a few days we flew out to Cebu where the module was held. About 80 people attended the seminar: 30 ladies and 50 men. Most of the people were the local workers of Compassion International. There were also some pastors from White Fields.

2 things that stood out to me the most are: 1) the INTENSE hunger of the Body of Christ for solid teaching, and 2) the vast networks of pastors. People were EAGER to get trained to study, practice, and teach the Word of God. As pastors found out about our module, many of them made requests for us to go to their towns where they had another group of 20 or so pastors that needed training. This type of request was made several times while we were in the Philippines.
On one hand, it is very encouraging to see that the Body of Christ is hungry for God's Word. On the other, it is sad to see the Body of Christ STARVING for much needed spiritual nutrition.
Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
-- John 4:35
Seeing the people, He [Jesus] felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. "Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."
-- Matthew9:36-38
